We're home! Yeah!!! Hip Hip Hooray

Yeah!!! It feels soooo good to be home!! :) We were gone a month. We arrived home around midnight very early yesterday AM: Fri , Oct 14. It was a looong journey with 3 connections that were several hours each:
Guangzhou - Hong Kong;
HOng Kong - LA;
LA - Austin

Shekina wakened 6-7 times the first night partial night we were home and last night woke almost every hour. We are exhausted and getting very little sleep.
On Friday night, we went to the potluck dinner with families who have children from China, today ( Saturday), we ventured out grocery shopping but hard to get unpacked or get much done between making meals, feeding her (and trying to eat ourselves as everytime she sees us eating even though she has eaten she wants ours too! :) ) diaper changes, playing with her, dressing, dressing her again as we still haven't found diapers that don;t leak....baths, etc...hopefully we'll get unpacked one of these days! :)

So far tonight she has wakened twice in less than 2 hours crying and needs to be held and consoled.... critical at this bonding stage to know we are still here. She has been in 4 different cribs since we became her "forever family", so that along with jet lag and adjusting to being an American citizen (as she's whispered to me it would have been a slightly easier adjustment had it been Canada! :)
I am now a full fledged member of the auspicious Sleep Deprived Mother's Club! Believe me, it's not a pretty picture so it will not be posted! :)

Tomorrow is Shekina's first birthday...
